It Felt Creepy Just Holding It, Imagine Opening It Up To Read

This book used to give me the creeps as a kid (the first edition with the glove on the cover). As a kid, I was able to catch 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' on TV, but didn't get a chance to watch the others until I grew up. I have been a fan ever since. "In the old days" there was no Netflix, no way to rent Rated-R movies, and no way to just watch it on TV. Because of that, this book was the only way for me to experience the first three movies.
I remember this book very vividly from my childhood. My sister and I went to the library once a week to borrow a lot of books. I discovered this book in the young adult section, as it seemed to draw attention to itself on the shelf. Holding it in my hand, I felt Freddy's influence on it, like it was something I shouldn't touch, let alone open up to read. I'm not trying to be funny or make things up, I literally got the creeps handling this book. I got the courage to check it out to read at home.
Of course being ten or however old I was, I was a lot more impressionable, but that's what made this book even better. Your imagination is just out there, and reading a book like this just takes you to places. It took some effort to will myself to opening this as it physically affected me and gave me goosebumps whenever I tried. Reading it transported me into the world of A Nightmare on Elm Street again, and my imagination did the rest. I turned out to be a well-rounded adult after reading this.
That's my memory of this book as a child. Now as a grown up, I decided to rebuy that first edition [see photos]. I still got a sense of dread when I handled it. But you know what? The nightmares are priceless to me. Recommended.

A trilogy of cuttingly good adaptations. *mild spoilers*

This book collects written adaptations of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE, and A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS.
As the other review mentioned, the novelization to part 3 is very, very different from the film. It was obviously written from an early draft. However, it's still worth reading.
And the recreations of the first two films are also nice, as well.
One nice touch is that all three made a major running theme of Freddy's dependence on fear, which was largely left out in the final film of Part 3 and not touched on again until 2003's Freddy vs. Jason.
Recommended for slasher fans or movie novelization fans.

A Nightmare trilogy

I just ordered these books and must say if anyone is thinking about getting them...do so, not only will you get a good group of stories, but you cannot beat the price, three books in one ain't bad, I now have the whole series except for part 6 (which I will be ordering soon) if you're a fan of the films you should enjoy them in novel form as well.
