The best Edition on Chart Patterns Anywhere

This is a reprint of the EXCELLENT 1958 edition. The writing style is magnificent. It looks wordy, but it's actually fun to read, easy to understand, and incredibly interesting. I've tried reading later editions from the library, but they had been "modernized" by the editor to the point that they had become directionless and overly wordy. This edition is strictly on chart patterns. No EMA, Stochastic oscillators, etc. If those are what you want to study, then see stockcharts.com. John Murphy's *Technical Analysis of the Financial Markets* is also an excellent book. His chapters on chart patterns are more modern and direct, and he includes some of the more mathematical indicators you can find at stockcharts.com, at least superficially, but Edwards and Magee [unmodified] is still the best and most readable book on chart patterns, in my opinion.

A good read, but let down badly by it's charts!

A very good read - probably one of the best books on Technical Analysis I have ever read.
However, it is let down by the charts it employs. They are all black and white bar charts - this is 2014, they should really be colored candle stick charts. I also agree with the review which states W.H.C. Bassetti has literally changed a few words and included a few extra charts and managed to get his name on the Technical Analysis of Stock Trends series.

Good Book

I might be a little skewed since I am not a novice to technical analysis, but all in all this is a good book for learning basics of technical analysis. I purchased this because it was x10 less expensive than the newer versions and I wanted to get a feel for what the CMT test would require. Pretty much what I expected. For a beginner, I might suggest the newer versions although this one is great if you have the ability to relate past experiences to the present. In fact, my favorite part about this version is just that... I love reading about stock history and relating it to now. To me that's more useful than learning 100 new stock indicators. It's a history lesson and a great technical characteristic if you will... realizing that the past repeats itself. Can't give it 5 stars because it isn't the easiest of reads and I didn't learn many new things, but again I am not a beginner so take that into consideration before relying on this review.
